Some councils have copped a backlash about the introduction of the program with some residents raising concerns about CCTV being installed in public areas.
Salisbury councilor Grace Bawden called for transparency before installation.
“I believe there’s lots of hidden things that the council’s hiding from the public,” Ms Bawden said. “They’re not honest about their procedures or policies to the Smart Cities that’s being rolled out.”
| The Smart City program has been promoted worldwide for well over 20 years. Most of us didn’t pay much attention until alert citizens in towns in the UK began clandestinely “removing” the despised surveillance equipment from their streets. The Sunshine Coast Council has been working on setting up the Sunshine Coast with Smart City precincts since 2014. Michael Whereat, the senior bureaucrat in charge of the Smart City Framework and Implementation Plan has been working full time since 2016 to bring the project to fruition. There are about ten videos extolling the virtues of smart cities on YouTube under “sunshine cost council smart city”. Most alarmingly, watch this YouTube Video from November 2023 of a conversation between Whereat and Simon Kaplan from The Urban Institute. Enlightened people who allege that it’s all about CONTROL are called conspiracy theorists. Yet it’s very obvious that the Council’s plan is to have everything under their ‘control’ by 2030. THE DARKSIDE OF 15-MINUTE CITIES The 15-Minute Cities urban planning model has been hailed as a sustainable and efficient solution for modern cities. But it’s essential to examine the potential drawbacks and worse still, the implications of combining it with the controversial social credit system. 15-Minute Cities: A Global Phenomenon The 15-minute city concept has gained traction in various cities worldwide, including the Sunshine Coast and many other Australian locations. And let’s not forget about China – it’s way ahead at spying on and controlling its citizens! The idea sounds reasonable: residents should be able to access essential services and amenities within a 15-minute walk or bike ride from their homes. However, there are several concerns that we need to address. The Downsides of 15-Minute Cities: 1. Social stratification: The implementation of 15-minute cities can push lower-income residents out of their neighbourhoods and into ghettos. This can create significant disparities between the haves and have-nots. 2. Loss of diversity and cultural identity: As neighbourhoods become more self-contained, there’s a risk of losing the unique cultural identities that make cities vibrant and diverse. The focus on localism could lead to homogenization and a loss of the rich tapestry that makes urban life so appealing. 3. Limited access to opportunities: By confining residents to their immediate neighbourhoods, 15-minute cities may inadvertently limit access to job opportunities, educational resources, and cultural experiences that are only available in other parts of the city. 4. We will go into full TOTALITARIANISM where we will be told what we can and cannot do by the unelected Elite, who consider themselves above the law and superior to the masses. The WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM recently revealed their plans, which will result in citizens losing all privacy and personal ownership of property. The Social 5. Credit System: A Dangerous Combination When combined with the social credit system, the 15-minute city concept becomes even more concerning. The social credit system, which assigns citizens a score based on their behaviour and compliance with government regulations, has been criticized for its potential to infringe on individual freedoms and privacy. (Australia will be in a similar system if cash is replaced by Social Credit style cards). Integrating this system into 15-minute cities could create a dystopian reality where residents are constantly monitored and controlled, with their movements and opportunities dictated by their Social Credit score. The worst part is that they have already started to prevent us from saying anything they don’t approve of. Anyone who speaks against their tyranny is called a ‘Domestic Terrorist’. They’ve already done this to MARIA ZEE an Australian Independent Journalist. Within few days of speaking up she was notified by her bank that her account was frozen and she couldn’t take her money out. If it can happen to her, it can happen to any of us! The Australian Government is in total loclk-step with the World Economic Forum and is actively pursuing a complete transformation by 2030. Standing Up for a Better Future As we grapple with the challenges of urbanization and sustainability, it’s crucial to consider the potential consequences of embracing trends like the 15-minute city. We must also recognize the potential pitfalls and the dangers of combining it with systems like the social credit system. So, let’s become more responsible for our future by objectively examining the 15-minute city concept, with transparency and advocating for urban planning solutions that promote community engagement, equity, and freedom for all.
